Bavarian Laser Center

Bavarian Laser Center

In the direct vicinity of MAOT you find the Bavarian Laser Center (BLZ). The BLZ is a research company that regards itself as an interface between basic scientific research and industrial application. Its focus is on the processing of metals and plastics, electronic production, Additive Manufacturing as well as precision processing with short pulse laser systems.

The BLZ collaborates closley with the Institute of Photonic Technologies (LPT) at FAU. Researchers of both institutions are involved in joint projects. Together, the BLZ and LPT run the Application Center for Additive Manufacturing (video) which offers extensive facilities next to the MAOT building.

Many MAOT students work as research assitants at the BLZ during their time at MAOT or go on to pursue a PhD with a project there.
