What happens after MAOT?

MAOT supports the transition from MAOT to the next stage:

  • The strong collaboration with SAOT offers a lot of options. The SAOT students‘ advisor helps MAOT graduates find a place at SAOT.
  • MAOT helps with reference letters and individual advice if students want to apply for PhD positions at other universities.
  • Feedback on job application documents to assist with applications for positions in the industry.

To date (April 2024) 203 students have graduated from MAOT. Of these:

  • some 25% have started a PhD at the FAU or the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light
  • some 40% have started a PhD at another university in Germany or abroad
  • some 35% have positions in the industry (see below)
